The Missing Bean is an independent speciality coffee roaster and café group in Oxford. What started as a single café on Turl Street has grown into a roastery, cafés across Oxfordshire and beyond, an in-house bakery and, most recently, its own chocolate.
From Australia to Turl Street
Founders Ori and Vicky opened The Missing Bean in 2009. While studying in Australia, they had fallen for its relaxed espresso bars and cafés. Back home they found nothing like them in Oxford, so they opened their own on Turl Street, in the heart of the city.
Their own roastery
As their reputation for great coffee grew, they opened their own roastery in Oxford. It's now their headquarters, where they source coffees from around the world and roast them as single origins and blends.
Cafés, a bakery and chocolate
Alongside the Roastery HQ and the original café on Turl Street, The Missing Bean now has cafés in Abingdon, Botley, Woodstock, Charlbury and Cowley, plus a café and wine bar in Maidenhead. Their own in-house bakery supplies all of their sites.
They've also started importing and roasting cacao, and making their own range of chocolate bars, bringing the same care they give their coffee to chocolate.
