Mezcla de Mujeres - Honduran Coffee with Notes of Cherry, Blackcurrant, Green apple

Mezcla de Mujeres - Honduran Coffee with Notes of Cherry, Blackcurrant, Green apple
Mezcla de Mujeres is a blend of coffees grown by seven independent female coffee producers from Copan in Honduras Gloria Esperanza Mejia, Nely Suyapa, Norma Fiallos, Norma Orellana, Yolanda Urrea Arita, Maria Melva Rodriquez and Maria Genoveva. The blend was made in collaboration with Tate, to highlight the role of women in the coffee supply chain. The goal of this was to give a very cost-effective, but high-quality coffee at scale. Mezcla de Mujeres The blend was made from a mix of coffee from 8 female producers. Cherry varietals were delivered to the Aruco wet mill, where it was macerated overnight and pulped and dry fermented for slightly longer than usual. This slightly extended fermentation gives the coffee great sweetness and a fruity, red berry character.

Flavour Profile of Mezcla de Mujeres

The coffee is rich and vibrant, with notes of cherry, black currant, and green apple with a lingering cinnamon finish, showcasing the incredible cup character from this specific region, but also the agronomical tradition of these female producers and processing precision of the Aruco group.

Coffee Grown in Honduras

Copán lies in the west of Honduras, bordering Guatemala, and includes the states of Copán, Ocotepeque, and part of Santa Barbara. It has an altitude of 1,000_x0096_1,500 m.a.s.l., and some of the widest ranges of humidity and temperature although, with a low of 11.5 °C, it can also be the coolest producing region in the country. Mezcla de Mujeres Here, you can find a sweet-scented coffee with strong notes of chocolate, caramel, and citrus. The body tends to be bold and creamy, while the aftertaste is lingering and balanced, with a delicate acidity. Common varieties include Bourbon, Caturra, and Catuai. Coffee from Copán is particularly famous in Honduras. What's more, it's part of the Honduran Western Coffees (HWC) Geographical Indication, which marks it as a notable origin (much like Mexican tequila or Roquefort cheese).
