Iron & Fire is an independent speciality coffee roaster in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. It was started by Kevin Burrows after around ten years working in coffee in Melbourne, Australia, and today he runs it with his business partner.
From Melbourne to Shropshire
Melbourne is one of the world's great coffee cities, and Kevin spent the best part of a decade there learning the craft. When he came home, he wanted to bring that café-culture standard to the UK. Iron & Fire began in Kevin's workshop in Ironbridge, just down the road from where the Industrial Revolution started, and grew from there.
How they roast
Iron & Fire roasts in small batches at its roastery in Shrewsbury, choosing coffees for quality and flavour as well as how and where they're grown. Their coffees have picked up several Great Taste awards from the Guild of Fine Food, including six in 2024.
More than a roastery
As well as roasting, Iron & Fire trains baristas and helps cafés and businesses serve better coffee. In Shrewsbury they also run a coffee shop, so you can taste their coffee as it's meant to be made.
