Tea FAQs
Got questions? We've got the answers
Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about our subscription, sourcing, deliveries, and more. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out — we’re always happy to chat about all things coffee.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is always free in the UK and only £1.99 to Europe, £2.99 the Rest of the World, and £4.99 to the USA per delivery. See our delivery page for more information.
When will I get my tea?
We tend to pack and send on the renewal day or one or two working days after. At busy times such as Christmas, New Year and Father's Day, we pack them as fast as we can. Your tea will then be sent at the same time on the schedule you chose each month or every two months. Please contact us if you would like to change the frequency of deliveries or change the date.
Will I need to be in when it arrives?
Nope, our box is small enough to fit through your letterbox, so you don't have to be home to receive it.
How much tea will I get?
If you chose our Blue Tea Box Mini option, you will receive three 25g bags of tea each delivery and for our signature Blue Tea Box you get 3 x 45g bags which is 135g in total. A cup of tea, on average, uses 2.5g per cup and you can usually brew a second cup with the same tea.
How do you know which teas to send to me?
Our Tea Merchants search for the best rare and single-origin teas and infusions. These are blended in the UK and, based on your choices and our special algorithm, we send you an every-changing variety of teas in each delivery.
Can I cancel or pause my subscription?
Yes, just log into your account and you will have the option to skip renewals or cancel them if that is what you would like to do. On the other hand, you can just email us and we will do it for you, anytime.
How is it different from buying tea from the supermarket?
Our teas are rare and single-origin. Our Tea Merchants are top tea specialist blenders who only work with rare teas. You won't find these in any supermarket. One way you can tell the difference is the size of the leaves when brewed.
When will I get billed and is it secure?
You will be charged on the day of your renewal whenever that may be and a receipt will be emailed. Our payment provider is Stripe who are trusted by the largest online companies. We cannot see or access your card information as it's never shown to us and is not stored on our servers.
Will I need a teabag or infuser?
This is fabulous loose leaf tea so any form of infuser, teapot or strainer will be needed. Each bag will have the recommended amount, temperature and brew time on the label. It's also possible to add the tea into single-use teabags available from some online stores.
How does delivery outside the UK work?
We send all our international deliveries with Whistl who estimate it will take 3-10 working days for each delivery to arrive. During strange times like the pandemic, individual countries may have border and infection controls that add delays. See our delivery page for more information.
Are there any post-Brexit EU charges?
Sadly, maybe. Since 1st July 2021, the VAT-free threshold of €22 has been removed. Under EU regulations, VAT may now be charged in the destination country. Customs admin fees may also be charged. Luckily, most of our customers have not been charged anything. See our delivery page for more information.
I am allergic to certain ingredients
When you place your order your email confirmation will ask if there are any ingredients you are allergic to (or that you dislike). Please reply with the allergy or dislike and we will add this to your notes and avoid teas with that ingredient. If you have a serious nut allergy (as opposed to dislike), we need to know as we cannot guarantee nut-free preparation from our multiple suppliers and blenders.
How long will I have to wait for my order?
For UK deliveries, most arrive three of days after you receive the email saying it has been sent. We tend to pack and send on the renewal day or one or two working days after.
At busy times such as Christmas, New Year and Father's Day, we pack them as fast as we can. For International, it tends to be 3-10 working days. Please note that the Royal Mail and Whistl cannot guarantee the arrival date of any deliveries so we include a gift certificate with all orders, just in case.
How can I track the status of my order?
Unfortunately, there is no tracking with standard post. There is no tracking for International postal deliveries. However, if you're worried, they rarely lose any boxes and we always replace the rare lost ones.
What emails should I expect to receive regarding my order?
You will receive an email with the details of your order as well as one each time we post your delivery. You will also be sent an email receipt when your subscription renews. Our marketing emails are only sent to thise who opt in and to customers. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe button at the bottom.
How will I know my order has been dispatched?
We will send you an email when we have sent your tea. It will take a two or three working days to arrive in the post.
